arsenal research

arsenal research With some 175 highly qualified staff members, arsenal research has established itself as a European research center in the future-oriented fields of mobility and energy. The organization’s primary objective is to boost the innovation capabilities of its partners by providing them with applied research and development and by linking regional, national and international innovation systems. In addition to high-quality measurement and testing technology, arsenal research employs state-of-the-art simulation methods aiming at guaranteeing the capability and sustainability of transport and energy systems for the future.

Transport Technologies

arsenal research develops cutting edge transport telematics solutions for making road and rail transport safer, more comfortable and more efficient. Floating Car Data (FCD), intelligent sensors and artificial intelligence form the basis of innovative telematics system for recording, forecasting and directing traffic flows. arsenal research’s transportation experts have also made an international name for themselves in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD). In its CFD laboratory arsenal research performs computer simulation for optimizing thermal comfort and aerodynamics for vehicles and buildings. This technology is used for a wide range of applications from individual components to complex dynamic systems.

Transport Routes Engineering

The high-level R&D competence consists primarily of risk analysis, maintenance and continuous improvement of road construction. arsenal research collects road survey data using the highest technical standards and link this information with additional transportation-related data to create intelligent telematics solutions, thus contributing significantly to increased traffic safety. In addition, arsenal research applies its international know-how to protect the areas surrounding pavements and railways from vibrations and noise pollution, thereby boosting the environmental compatibility of transportation systems. Monitoring and inspection of central infrastructure buildings complete the spectrum of the services.

Human Centered Mobility Technologies

Mobility research at arsenal research is not merely limited to road and railway, but also takes people into account as they are the ones who will be actively using this infrastructure. For that reason technology capable of analyzing, optimizing and guiding pedestrian flows is being developed in order to simplify and improve human mobility. Optimal usability of traffic guidance systems and mobility infrastructure is guaranteed for all age groups by applying customized mobility information and taking into account individual user needs.

Monitoring, Energy and Drive Technologies

arsenal research has experience in comprehensive testing methods and years of development in the field of energy technology. Doing so, the Monitoring Competence Center develops innovative monitoring and diagnostics systems aimed at achieving higher levels of efficiency, safety and reliability in the use of electrical machinery and systems. The Power Service Center features a high-voltage and high-current laboratory, one-of-its-kind throughout Europe, for testing and optimizing electrical components and systems. In the technology center, sophisticated computer models and simulation methods are deployed to develop intelligent drive technology concepts for vehicles that are more efficient and lead to fewer emissions.

Sustainable Energy Systems

arsenal research also focuses on integrating sustainable power technologies into the energy supply for buildings, municipalities and regions. Drawing on the years of experience in studying the complex interaction of components and systems, arsenal research provides efficient and environmentally-friendly solutions for developing the heating, ventilation and climatisation technologies of tomorrow.

Renewable Energy Technologies

The R&D activities in the field of renewable energy technologies focus on the use of the sunrays for generating heat and electricity and on safely connecting decentralized electricity generators to the public power grid. As Europe’s only accredited testing institute for solarthermal and photovoltaic components, arsenal research has established itself as an important development partner for the solar energy industry.
